Dear Rob
your azores site is a great resource, thankyou!
i am a surfer from the uk, getting married this summer and my bride and i want to honeymoon an the azores in August. We generally travel on a shoestring, working on organic farms with families for board and lodge or hiring a car and camping as we scour the coast for waves.
We'd really like to rent a cottage for a week or two near Ribeira grande, but i'm having trouble finding anywhere small enough/affordable! - i realise it's the most expensive time of year.. can you recommend anywhere (a website, or a contact) we can find a small basic affordable rural cottage within easy reach of the surfing beaches, we'll hire a car i think too if it's reasonable.
Many thanks Rob
Charlie

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for your compliments!
I hate to say it, but you might be asking the impossible. You'll be lucky to find a hotel room under 60 Euros, if not 80 (per night). August is prime time in the Azores and rooms will be filling fast.
One budget friendly idea is the hostel in Ponta Delgada, I've heard it is well run and affordable. It is in a nice area by Anton Borges Park and is affiliated with Hostels International.
Here's what I have on them:
Rua S.Francisco Xavier

There is also a campsite near Furnas. I can't seem to find anything on it other than this site:

I assume that you checked the Azores Hotels and the Quinta das Acacias pages?
Hope you can work something out!
