My husband and I are traveling to Sao Jorge in May and want to do a couple of day hikes. We are thinking of renting a car and driving to our end destination (Faja de Sao Joao) and then getting a taxi there to take us to the start of the hike (Faja dos Vimes). Is this feasible? Will there be taxis available in small towns/villages like Faja de Sao Joao, Faja dos Cubres and Faja do Ouvidor?
Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hi Marilyn,
Good question. I don't have experience with hiking in Sao Jorge. But based on my experience with the Azores I suggest that you make a contact with a taxi driver upon arrival to the airport and ask that driver to be of assistance to you when needed. Get his/her contact info and arrange pick up times and places the day before or morning of your hike and you should be good.
Hope that helps! Enjoy your hiking.
